Blissfully Small-Scale

The courage and advantage of staying small.

As we write this, Ulricehamns Tapetfabrik has seven employees. In five years, there might be eight. Sounds strange? Staying small is not an end in itself, but it is a condition for much of what we believe in, what we grow from, and what makes us competitive.

Some things can be translated and replicated. Others can’t. And mass-produced wallpaper tends to lose its soul.

That’s why we stick to traditional printing techniques: hands-on craftsmanship by our color masters and master printers, for expressive, high-end wallpaper.

Our ambition is also to be the best employer. Not objectively, not for everyone, but subjectively, for our own team. We want to recognize their talents and potential, and respond to their wishes and needs. The same goes for our customers.

With us, relationships can actually grow. Our way of contributing will not change shape. We believe that kind of stability builds trust, creates lasting partnerships, and opens space for creativity.

We have both the will and the capacity to dive into small, artistic, and experimental projects. And we have the same will and capacity to meet the wonderfully high expectations of clients such as Svenskt Tenn.

This ability to shift tempo — to move fluidly between scales — is another aspect of staying small that we see as both sustainable and deeply rewarding in the long run.
