Case: Cathy Nordström

The all-round artist who passes the gift on.

Cathy and her sons in the family kitchen.

As a child, Cathy was deeply moved by homes that were carefully put together. It wasn’t so much about a specific style as it was about personality and care. Textiles, patterns, color. The feeling that someone had taken the time to create the best possible conditions for something as simple yet essential as comfort.

Today, she passes that gift on, both privately and professionally. In the family’s home in Nacka as well as in their summer house in Torekov, Cathy and her husband often overhear their three children and their friends exclaiming genuine “Oh, how cozy…” at the sight of rooms and details that bear her unmistakable touch.

When that kind of reaction comes from teenage boys, you know she’s doing something right. Who knows what seeds she’s planting in the next generation?

Cathy’s ability to create harmonious environments is something her clients also benefit from. Together with her team at the shop in Östermalm, Stockholm, she provides a growing clientele with Swedish-made home textiles, lampshades, cushions, and wallpapers. Every new piece complements the existing range, making the shop a true goldmine for anyone with an eye for quality materials and timeless design. Confident, joyful interiors that simply feel right.

Cathy’s contribution to the industry is pure dopamine. Her products connect seamlessly, and the worlds she builds evoke both joy and a sense of direction. You just want to sink into a sofa in one of her rooms and stay there. No guilt required — to Cathy, a home should always be a sanctuary.

Like here, in their summer house at Easter.

On her latest visit to our factory, three entirely new wallpaper designs came to life. Each of them features a small-scale pattern, a contrast to the bold designs of many of our other clients. The wallpapers will launch next year, together with Swedish-made textiles in matching prints. In Cathy’s own home, however, they’ll be up much sooner. The best way to understand their full potential is, of course, to live with them.

When asked about her dream client, Cathy says it would be a boutique hotel in the south of France’. The idea of creating an entire world of her own is tempting. And when asked which private interior project currently gives her the biggest dopamine rush, her answer is, the kids’ new bathrooms’.Her daughter’s will feature powder pink and yellow tones with apple-green tiles. The boys’ will combine a denim-blue vanity with amber-colored tiles. Cathy’s intuition is as strong as her courage, and that courage pays off. We look forward to following and accompanying the brand Studio Cathy Nordström on its exciting journey for many years to come.
